So, this Saturday I test drive this Fiesta ST... has anyone here on Oppo driven one yet? I love the 500 Abarth, but its just so damn small. The Fiesta is what I hope will be replacing my 2011 Elantra Touring. Its smaller, not as small as the Fiat... the question is: can it compete with the Fiat's attitude?

It would have to be a complete beast in order to compare it to the Abarth. Those cars are all about cars with personality. You either love them or hate them.

The Fiesta is apparently fantastic, the old ST150 was lots of fun. Can you get it as a 3 door in the US? I think the 5 door makes a cool, small car look rather ugly.

The problem is I have a motorcycle and an '82 Volvo 242 race car already, so this has to be my everyday car... The Fiat is so much freaking fun, but it has even less room in it than the Volvo (with no rear seats that thing is a actually kind of cavernous, but getting stuff past the roll cage is a bitch...) I like the looks of the 3 door Fiesta ST too, but the 5 door is much more practical for my needs...

i test drove a Focus ST3 in June before I bought my 1 series. On paper, the car is everything i could ever want. Hatch, Turbo, 6 speed, euro design, practical etc. But after the drive, i just didn't love it. I don't know what it was, i just didn't love it enough to be straddled with payments for another 5 years.

I actually like the look of the Fiesta over the focus. And I agree, i wanted an Abarth, but it was wayy to small. Good Luck

I drove a regular fiesta, at 6ft 5in I actually fit very well. I had nothing bad to say about the car. I can't say I've driven an ST though...

Here is a non-auto rag review you can read about the fiesta ST

I drove the Focus ST too, after driving the Abarth and it was fast as hell, no denying that, but it also let me feeling flat... the traction control was intrusive and didn't entirely solve the torque-steer issue :/ also the clutch was irritating in traffic... Everything I hear from those who aren't overly smitten with the Focus ST because of it's speed seems to indicate that the Fiesta is a little more refined and much more livable in traffic.

I understand how practicality has to come first, I do drive a diesel wagon after all ;)

I don't think the Fiesta will have the character of the Fiat that comes with the Italian design, but will probably be a better, more reliable daily drive thats still also a lot of fun.

The Recaro seats are great, the steering is accurate, the engine is addictive and there's loads of grip. You'll have a blast if you try to!

Just curious, why are you ditching the Elantra?

At this point the ET is worth more than I owe on it, and it has been a really good car, and spacious to boot! But ever since I got the race car and test drove the Abarth I have wanted something a little spunkier for my daily drive. I really have nothing bad to say about the ET, I quite like it actually, but financially this is the right time to part with it and the Fiesta is a compelling little thing...

You'll love the Fiesta ST. I loved the 500 Abarth, but this is fun in its own right. But the Fiesta is the one I'd have in the end because of the four doors.
